Our History
We are one of the few remaining full-line seed companies in the country, offering a comprehensive line of farm, silage, vegetable, turf and wildlife products.
SEEDWAY’s origins began in 1923 with the formation of Robson Seed Farms, a company focused on vegetable and flower seeds. The business evolved to Robson Quality Seeds in the 1960s, and we expanded our product line.
Carl Fribolin joined Robson Quality Seeds in 1963 and paved the way for today’s SEEDWAY with the ownership of the company and the name changing in 1971. SEEDWAY was then sold to AgWay Inc., a Northeast and mid-Atlantic cooperative. The company grew through acquisition. Some notable purchases include:
- Seem Seed Farms (1974)
- Todd Seed Company (1982)
- Scarlett Seed Company (1983)
- Carlton Seed (1990)
- Burpee Commercial Vegetable Seed (1996)
- Agriculver Seeds (2003) and Olds Garden Seed (2011)
SEEDWAY was acquired by GROWMARK in December 2002 and remains a GROWMARK subsidiary.
